Wonderful northern berry cloudberries are known to many. But few heard about the princess. The prince is the most delicious and fragrant northern berry, a beautiful and healthy plant. This perennial herb has a small height, a long creeping rhizome, which extends to a depth of 10-25 cm. The stalks are branched, the princess does not form a mustache. Leaves are like strawberry leaves. This berry with a pleasant aroma has a pineapple flavor.

The prince is also called raspberry, because it grows in damp glades and meadows. In the Far East, Kamchatka, Siberia and in the northern regions of the European part of Russia, the princess is called differently: princess, mother, Khokhlyanka, noon, moss raspberry. In ancient Russia, this plant was well known, it was added to food and used as a medicine. In Karelia, the princess was grown specially. She did not require leaving and easily took root.

The fruits of the princess are eaten not only fresh, but they also make marmalade, fruit drink, wine, jam and stewed fruit, squeezed juice. Princess jam with a touch of pineapple and peach, very fragrant, tasty. This medicinal berry contains fructose, glucose, malic and citric acids, vitamin C and organic dyes. Sometimes the fruits of the princess are dried or soaked.

Young leaves are dried in the sun and tea is brewed with them; dried tea can also be used for tea. If you add currant leaves and Ivan tea to the leaves of the princess, then the tea turns out to be of a very original taste. The juice from the princess makes her vigorous, quenches her thirst, and helps lower her temperature.

You can grow the princess even in garden areas, you only need to be able to simulate conditions close to her natural living conditions. It is better to plant it in wet areas and often water it. Plant at least two varieties of garden princess, because this royal berry requires cross-pollination. Fence each variety so as not to mix up.

In late May, the princess blossoms with a beautiful crimson color. And in July you will already be relishing sweet red berries with blackberry blue. In autumn, the ground part of the princess will die, but a perennial root continues to grow. On the buds, which are located on the segments of the roots, in the spring there will be new flowering shoots. You will get a stable crop of berries in two years.

The most famous varieties are Sophia and Anna, these are hybrids of Alaskan bones and the Swedish princess. The berry on average weighs 1-2 grams. Harvested 2-3 times (July-August). With 1 sq. m usually collect 100-200 g princesses. In the northern regions, the productivity of princesses is greater than in the south.

This berry is decorative, so it is used in the interiors of the garden, planting on curbs, flower beds and paths. Try to plant the royal princess berry on your site, watch it. The prince will delight you with both his appearance and his aromatic taste.
